In the underwater world, coral reefs emerge through the slow accumulation of countless living organisms, creating extraordinary structures of colour, texture and form. Their beauty lies in diversity, yet their survival depends on connection. Each element contributes to a larger ecosystem, where individuality and collective existence become inseparable.
Coral Queens – Rani Pink translates this natural intelligence into a vibrant textile sculpture. Through crochet, knitting and repetitive needlework, Marita Setas Ferro creates an intricate composition of organic shapes in shades of pink, magenta and violet, evoking the richness and complexity of marine ecosystems.
Threads made from recycled Indian saris intertwine with wool and other textile fibres, giving discarded materials a new existence. Supported by an internal structure of upcycled copper, the sculpture embodies the principles of transformation, circularity and regeneration.
Each stitch becomes a gesture of care, each fibre part of a collective structure. Like the coral ecosystems that inspire it, Rani Pink celebrates the beauty of interdependence while reminding us of the fragility of the natural world and our responsibility to preserve it.
