July 2025 - Now Showing: “Anemones in Volcanic Rock” by Marita Setas Ferro at Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown

If you're in Dubai this summer and love contemporary textile art, you won’t want to miss the latest exhibition transforming the Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown. In collaboration with Double J Art Gallery, the hotel is currently hosting “Anemones in Volcanic Rock”, a striking solo show by acclaimed Portuguese artist Marita Setas Ferro.

Unveiled on the evening of June 27, the exhibition invites guests into a deeply immersive experience where traditional craftsmanship meets modern visual poetry. Known for her work in textile sculpture and sustainable design, Ferro reinterprets marine and geological forms using techniques like crochet and knitting — transforming threads into organic wonder.

At the heart of the exhibition is a powerful hexagram-shaped installation that symbolically weaves together the four elements — earth, fire, water, and air — through vibrant colors, intricate textures, and sculptural finesse. It’s a meditation on nature’s complexity, but also on our human connection to craft, transformation, and heritage.

“Anemones in Volcanic Rock is more than a textile work — it’s a dialogue between tradition and imagination,” says Marita Setas Ferro.

The opening night featured a presentation by the artist alongside Double J Gallery director Jorge Pinto, as well as a short video offering a glimpse into Ferro’s creative process. Guests were invited to explore the installation while enjoying curated canapés and welcome drinks in the hotel’s atmospheric Jewellery Box at Open Sesame.

The exhibition is open to the public and will remain on view through September 2025, allowing both hotel guests and art lovers to experience its impact throughout the summer.
